The hair follicle is the core from which a hair grows. It is a tiny core which looks like a bowl that is located in the fat layer of the skull. A hair follicle produces about 20 new hairs during a human life time. At the end of each growth cycle, the hair falls out and is replaced within a specific period with a new hair.
Each hair follicle lives in a recurring cycle of a long period of growth, followed by a relatively short period of rest. During this rest period, the hair is still attached to the hair follicle but it does not grow anymore. After the resting phase, the hair falls out and a new hair begins to grow and starts a new cycle.
There is a genetic predisposition of each hair follicle to have its own pattern of a growth and rest phase. As it were, hair follicles are programmed to grow less and remain longer in the resting phase as age progresses. The hair growth cycles consists of the following phases:
- Anagen: This is the so called growth phase.
- Catagen: This is the intermediate phase. This phase represents the end of the growth period. Hair follicles are preparing for a period of rest. This phase in which the hair follicle passes from growth to resting phase, lasts an average of one to two weeks.
- Telogen: This is the resting phase. It usually lasts three to four months and at the end of this period, the old hair falls out and is replaced by a new hair that starts to grow.
Viridex RF: Ideal treatment for single or independent unwanted hair on the face or body. With the K3i needle, you insert the needle in the hair follicle and insert the high frequency signal. The hair follicle will be destroyed and will the hair go.
